| Well,it’s that time of year again where I endure the heat of summer to paint a mural in Deep Ellum. I’m pretty darn excited about this year’s opportunity because the mural I will be painting is the largest I have done to date &it will be on a building that faces the new Deep Ellum Dart Light Rail Station at Swiss &Good-Latimer. This mural series has been organized by Frank Campagna as a way to somewhat replace the murals that were destroyed when the Good-Latimer tunnel was filled in to make way for the light rail. There are about 12 artist taking part in this mural series &I am excited to be part of it. We will start painting the murals at the beginning of July &will work on them for the duration of the month. The finished murals will be unveiled shortly before the opening of the new Dart Light Rail Green Line in August. Here is a photo of the building on which I will be painting my mural. The dimensions for this particular mural will be approximately 8′X 30′. Come down to Deep Ellum &check it out if you get the chance! Deep Ellum Mural 2009 Since last we talked,I have embarked on yet another adventure … In this particular adventure,I have entered the world of podcast creation. Not being completely satisfied with the results,I have been reworking the paintings in order to achieve the look that I had originally intended. It has been a very slow process, mainly because time is at a premium these days. It seems that holding down a full-time software engineering gig while being the father of two beautiful little girls and a trying to be a decent husband demands a great deal of time. No real complaints though, except maybe I wish there were a few more hours in each day. Keep checking back. I hope to have these paintings completed very soon. I also have some other things in the works that I can’t wait to share with everyone soon. Brian. “If we did all we are capable of doing we would literally astonish ourselves.” –Thomas A. Edison I finally have a blog. Please return often to see the latest posts about what has been happening in and around the studio here at crawford artworks. I have plenty of new things planned for 2009! So,stay tuned! | |
